May is National Stroke Awareness Month and Life Line Screening is holding a special event for Pittsboro residents.
On May 13 Life Line will do 4 preventive health screenings at the American Legion Building for these conditions:
Carotid Artery Disease:
Occurs when plaque builds up in the carotid arteries and is a major risk factor for stroke.
Peripheral Arterial Disease:
Occurs when the arteries that supply blood to the legs and feet are narrowed by plaque. This can lead to pain and tissue death.
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm:
When the aorta, located in the belly region, stretches or balloons, it can lead to a rupture or leak which requires emergency medical attention.
Atrial Fibrillation:
An irregular heartbeat, also known as arrhythmia. AFib sometimes leads to other complications like blood clots.
All four screenings will be done for the special pricing of $129.
