The Department of Planning, Zoning and Development is responsible for administering the Unified Development Ordinance and Building Codes for the Town of Pittsboro.
The department is also tasked with long-range planning to ensure responsible growth, protect and enhance quality of life, and advance economic development goals of the community. The Department of Planning, Zoning and Development monitors and updates the Comprehensive Plan, reviews subdivision and development plans, issues building permits, and performs construction inspections. Additionally, the department facilitates the work of the Advisory Plan Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals.
