Pittsboro Parks Celebrates Successful Holiday Kick-Off

Craft Fair

The Pittsboro Parks Department kicked off the holiday season in grand fashion on Dec 3 with three great community focused events during the day. A craft fair, Santa touring the town, tree lighting ceremony, and a Santa meet and greet took place to the delight of town residents.

The day began with the craft fair at Scamahorn Pork at the Legion Building featuring 14 local vendors selling a wide range of quality items. Holiday wreaths, ornaments, gnomes, clothing, and refreshments were available during the day. Shoppers were impressed with the items and were happy to get gifts for their loved ones from local artists.

The festive events continued with the Pittsboro Fire Department helping bring Santa to town on their firetruck. Santa toured the subdivisions and downtown with their lights shining and holiday music playing. Countless residents came from their house to wave as the truck progressed through town.

Scamahorn Park hosted the final two events of the day with the Christmas tree lighting and Santa-meet-and-greet. Hannah Bernhardt won the coloring contest and was the lucky child who worked with Santa to light the main Christmas display at the park. The growing holiday displays were fully lit during the evening. The number of displays continue to grow each year thanks to the support of our local sponsors.

The day concluded with Santa visiting with many local children and hearing their Christmas wishes in the Scout Building. Visitors also were able to take advantage of treats, drinks, and donated books from the Pittsboro Parks Department.
