Advisory Planning Commission (APC)

Indiana Code 36-7-4-202 authorizes a town council to establish an Advisory Plan Commission to conduct planning and zoning within its corporation limits and in accordance with Indiana Advisory Planning Law.

The Advisory Plan Commission will consist of seven members to be on the group. Three of the members must be elected or appointed by town officers or employees in the town government as town members. The President of the Town Council shall appoint four citizen members of whom no more than two may be of the same political party. 

The term of a town member shall be the same period as the term of the Town Council that appointed such member, but in any event, shall not exceed four years from the date of appointment. 

The term of citizen members shall initially be appointed for a term of three years and two members shall initially be appointed for a term of four years. 

The Plan Commission shall make recommendations to the Pittsboro Town Council concerning the adoption of a comprehensive plan, ordinance and amendments or any other ammeter within the jurisdiction of the commission authorized by advisory planning law.
